6 Steps to take control of your life during uncertain times

Although we live in a world filled with uncertainty, there are small things you can do to take control of your life.


Truth is, there are many things in life outside of your control. Pile those things up and you can be stuck with negative feelings such as anxiety, depression, fear, and even helplessness.


A few examples of the things that you cannot control:

· The actions of others around you

· The weather

· The economy

· Where you were born

· Your childhood

· World events

· Time


The list goes on and on.


There are basic steps you can take to better manage the things that you can control that will allow you to become empowered in our life. The 6 steps below will allow you to take control of your life in an uncertain world.


1. Know what you want (Your Outcomes)

Know what you want in all areas of your life;

Physical body, Relationships, Business, Career, Finances.

2. Know why you want those Outcomes in different areas of your life.

Knowing why you want it, will keep you motivated to move towards achieving those outcomes.

3. Choose Your Emotional State

There is power in emotion. The way you feel controls the quality of your life.

Ask yourself:

· Does feeling sad/depressed/angry/frustrated/annoyed bring me closer to my desired outcome?

· What emotion can I choose that will bring me closer to my life outcomes?

Then choose that emotion! Take control of your life by always choosing the emotional state that is most likely to help you create the kind of life that you want.

Anger, disappointment, failure, and frustration are parts of life but don’t make them your emotional home.


4. Take action to achieve your Outcomes

Start with small actions, small 2mm consistent shifts over a period of time will lead to massive action. Consistency is key!

Make a list of all the things you can do today that will bring you closer to your desired outcomes and then start doing them, one by one.

5. Practice Gratitude

Take time daily to practice gratitude. Find one simple thing to give thanks for.

Tell people “thank you” when they do something kind for you, no matter how small the deed.

Choosing to live from a place of gratitude brings peace.

6. Stop waiting for other people

You have no certainty over how people will act. There is nothing you can do to control other people. You can however control yourself!

To take control of your life, take back the decision-making power when the action or inaction of others is making you feel helpless, angry, or frustrated.
